We are Cranberries

Love us ripe, dry or juiced

I had first tasted cranberries when I came to the United States. Their sour taste makes them addictive. They are delicious antioxidants which are incredibly good for health. These tart and juicy cranberries offer plenty of nutritional value. Fresh cranberries are not available at the grocery store in spring or summer season. Since they are harvested in the fall, these red-colored berries are found in stores from October to December. This is the time when cranberries are relished as a sauce during Thanksgiving dinner. These berries can be frozen and kept for a year to be used as a condiment, to add flavor, or you can toss them in a salad.

My First Impression of Cranberries

This fruit looks gorgeous with its bright red color and has round and oblong shape, which enhances its beauty. Despite its beautiful look, I have observed that raspberries and blueberries are more striking and people tend to prefer them. Cranberries have an overwhelming note of sourness. As much as we glorify raspberries and blueberries, I believe cranberries deserve some serious love too.

I like these berries in any form: ripe, dry and juiced. Initially, I was not aware of dried cranberries. My son discovered it and thus it became one of our favorite things to snack on. Cranberries are also available in the form of juice. They help your body fight infections and give a boost to the body. Since dried cranberries are sugar coated they are not as nutritious as the fresh ones, but they do have some amount of fiber. If dried cranberries are a real hit at your house you can add a small portion of them in your food instead of munching on them.

I taste more like candy and do not provide any vitamins and minerals. That does not mean you should stop eating me. Just add a spoonful of me as a sweet garnish to your healthy meals such as a spinach salad. This time stop by your grocery store and buy me. You…
