New chatbot helps people have better conversations in Maori.

Te Reo classes around New Zealand have wait lists as the demand to learn Maori language is gaining popularity. Practicing Te Reo though can be difficult outside of class time as many learners don’t have buddies to sit and repeat phrase after phrase.

Delivered through Facebook Messenger, REOBOT is the Te Reo learners ultimate companion to practice when and where they want. It will help them pick up additional phrases and words that can be used in everyday conversations.

Jonnie Cain went to an IBM workshop where he learnt about IBM Watsons Conversational API and discovered how simple it was to use.

‘And now we’ve taught Watson to help anyone learn to speak more everyday Maori, says Jonnie.
