According to Aristotle, the legendary Greek philosopher, human beings by nature are social animals. We cannot survive in isolation for longer, and the need to seek and maintain interpersonal relationships is a basic need for human beings.
In the very early days of work systems, reminiscing back to the prehistoric era, humans worked in tribes at the farms, lived in communities and hunted in groups. Human beings had the feeling of ownership for whatever they created. They protected each other, hunted together, shared food and procreated families. Here, the leader nurtured the tribe, made them feel safe, trusted their skills and was directly responsible for their wellbeing and survival.
And then the industrial revolution happened. We moved towards a mass-production economy where the work was simplified. Though we broke down work, we also created walls and barriers in the organization of vertical and horizontal walls. We then created a hierarchical management system, where the top comprised of tellers and the bottom as doers. The tellers cared less about the people they were responsible for and more about themselves.
Nevertheless, another revolution hit the market in the 21st century where the shift from the industrial revolution to the new economic domination of information technology happened.
