In high temperature conditions, the transmission line cables stretch and increase the sag. If combined with wind, storms, or extreme weather conditions, it can cause electrical discharge.

E-WFP has a strong technological impact as a wildfire prevention tool, alerting power grids operators about critical or extreme build-up conditions that can lead to a transmission line failure, flashover or short circuit. Conversely, wildfires can cause a transmission line failure in remote forest areas.

The E-WFP will be the key to accurately detect the risks and probability of ignition of fires caused by transmission lines and locate the potential source, before the ignition event occurs, be it due to the breakdown of the dielectric in the air, electrical faults or mechanical, or even the conductors falls.

The E-WFP is a tool for preventing and detection of the spread of wildfires, having a direct impact on biodiversity by avoiding CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. By its forecasting function, it will alert operators and decision makers about the criticality of the situation, so that they can timely and proactively decide to shut down the transmission line or redirecting supply through another line.

So, AI and predictive analytics are anticipating the occurrence of failures and will automatically inform the utility company of a potential problem, that would not have been recognized with traditional monitoring or protection systems.
