It is with evident; the demand of General Practitioners continues to increase that causes GPs to work longer hours and see more patients. Several articles have been published raising concerns of the feedback given by these healthcare professionals regarding their imbalance in work life. A news article from the guardian in August 2017 states that the overloaded work schedule nearly broke a marriage by not being able to see his wife and children. Nevertheless, majority of the GPs are struggling to cope with the increasing demand in primary care, and therefore unprecedented numbers are leaving to work abroad or retiring early.

Deploying nurses instead of doctors has been seen on way of reducing costs in primary care. Ms Laurant, on Nursing Times Article, stressed that it was not clear if the strategy actually saved money. Large number of General Practitioners have found locum beneficial and it now appears that pros outweigh the cons. Henceforth, healthcare professionals in primary care are now beginning to convert to locum.

Many attempts in the healthcare industry has taken to cut costs within the NHS. This includes reducing pay rate of healthcare professionals and reducing facilities. It would be agreeable that NHS began to suffer after these concepts has been implemented that resulted on professionals fleeing the country or retiring early.

Many of the institutions are using the locum agencies to find candidates to meet their demanded hours. The practitioners choose the shifts they like to work, and this is bringing a more balanced work life and a satisfying income as locum pays higher. Locum is providing the flexibility and convenience for these professionals making it more preferred choice over the permanent roles. The rising demand have put the locum in the light however the need for General Practitioners still conveys to rise and shortage continues to cripple the NHS.

Bringing locum into a success, it has been certified that most practices are pleased with the services the agencies are providing. Since the agencies have streamlined themselves in the front line of fire, there is an immense pressure to cover the hours required by the practices. The matter of fact is that due to the scare number of doctors available, it has been extremely difficult to convey the demand. Since the funding structure operates slightly different with the locum, the agencies have implemented rates with everything in their fire power to attract and bring healthcare professionals back on board. While the future seems opaque, agencies have a transparent vision of leading this to success only if the funding structure is due to change.
