Virtues For My Black Child

I think of you this morning. A morning when the news is filled with instances of Blacks are being killed by white men on a regular basis. Do your best to always remember my virtues for you.

1. You have nothing to prove to anyone except yourself & God.

2. It is okay to walk away.

3. Make good decisions.

4. Give good, get good.

5. When there is no one to lead, lead yourself.

6. Family always…however you do get to choose them.

7. Trust you.

8. Educate yourself.

9. Love. Love hard…love honestly…but pay attention.

10. Always…always…protect yourself. Spiritually, mentally, & physically.

11. Provide that same protection for those you love.

12. Loyalty is irreplaceable.

13. Pain goes away with time.

14. Always take care of you.

15. Visualize your Victories.

16. Remember who you are.

17. The only reward for quitting is lost time and a pile of shit you still have to get done.

18. Procrastination is for lames.

19. Selfishness is for lames.

20. Thievery….lames.

21. Sheeple…lames.

22. Respect…there’s nothing like it. Earn it & pay it.

23. Conquer you and the world will fall at your feet.

24. Be and stay disciplined.

25. Play when it’s time to play.

26. Play hard & Play often.

27. Laugh.

28. Smile.

29. Choose the freedom of happiness.

30. Most importantly, don’t ever forget that you are Black in America.
