How to Stop Overthinking in life.

When we constantly think about something deeply attached to us physically, mentally, or socially which can have a huge impact on our life, then we think that we are in the state that is termed as overthinking. Since we don’t know the causes behind it, we want to stop overthinking as soon as possible.

There can be two scenarios: -

In both scenarios, there is a state of comparison. There may be peoples who don’t even think a bit before doing something and there may be people who think a lot before doing the simplest tasks. Also, as an individual, we tend to spend a different amount of time in making different decisions in life. For instance, while selecting a career, we tend to spend a lot of time thinking, researching, and analyzing, but while choosing between two candies, we hardly think for 10 seconds.

The amount of time spent on thinking on issues depends on an individual and the topics that we are concerned about.

The lack of proper knowledge about anything which matters to us leads us to overthink it. We may imagine the outcomes, possibilities in the future, and its scope. The shortage of proper information makes us anticipate the worst-case. Since it is important to us, we are not able to stop thinking, which we call as overthinking.

For example, while buying a house, we spend a lot of time comparing and researching. We research the costs, loan interest, mortgage rates, and, facilities around it. After researching, we analyze it. But, even after fully analyzing, we feel a little worried about the worst-case scenario. It is completely normal to think a lot about these topics as these are big investments.

On the contrary, being indulged mentally in solving a mathematical question for hours is not considered as overthinking. Rather it is seen as hard work.

In many relationships, insecurity causes overthinking. People speculate about cheating, dishonesty, sexual attraction for others, and numerous other cases. In these speculations, the insecure person wastes time and energy by overthinking the cases that may or may not be true.

So, one should try to communicate with the other person about their relationship and honesty, which would solve the trust issue, and hence the other person will stop thinking about it.

We crave for our greatest desires. Being so, we think numerous whats and ifs about it, which leads to overthinking.

The craving of anything that is important in our perspective and which can bring mental satisfaction leads us to overthink about it. We can crave for money, lavish lifestyle, care, love, porn, family, job, relationship, sex, or addiction to anything (cigarettes, alcohol, weed, or social media).

It is the combination of the above three causes. Making a good career is a long term goal. To accomplish this goal, one needs to work hard. But because of some problems, one is not able to work towards it. This makes him speculate about his future. When he is not putting effort, he will not acquire proper knowledge about it. This will make him think about the worst-case scenario.

Most people think that there is a magical solution for overthinking, which will in one night make them from overthinker to completely relaxed person. But the truth is overthinking is like a habit, and hence it will go like a habit, which means it will go slowly. There is nothing complicated about its solution. Just eradicates its causes. Given below are the habits that one can practice: -

In answering these questions, you will get to know what you need to figure out in life. If you are thirsty enough, you will achieve your goal yourself.

Controlling your distractions should be your main focus because if you master it, then you will never divert from your path.

In life, we tend to stop what makes us feel uncomfortable immediately. This tendency ceases us to get to the root cause. Get to the root cause before reacting to any problem. This is a problem-solving mindset. Don’t compare yourself with anyone, accept what you are, and focus on improving yourself each day.
